1/19: a night of snow

Finally got the chance to go through some old-ish photos from a few weeks ago.
Here are some of the photos I took on my way home from campus from a snowy Thursday night.

getting involved. whatup?!

I want to do something with my life! I want to get involved. I want to make a difference! I just... don't know HOW. I mean, it shouldn't be that hard... right? I'm a college student. this is the perfect time!

so. there are so many things I could get involved in... so many great organizations that I believe are doing amazing things. like International Justice MissionInvisible ChildrenTo Write Love On Her Arms just to name a very very select few... but where does God want me to serve?? ahh!

here's what I wrote in my Flickr description from this...

International Justice Mission
I guess this is the most "applicable" since today is Human Trafficking Awareness Day. These people are working to bring justice to and rescue those in slavery all over the world, but especially those in countries whose laws may not sufficiently protect them. I'm currently looking into getting involved on my own college campus, but they are doing some really cool stuff. Especially with Passion 2012 focusing on donating to/raising awareness for/serving the 27 million slaves worldwide, I feel like this is a problem that God is going to be working in this year. I'm super excited to see what comes of this...
Invisible Children
They are working through creativity, film, and direct action to end the use of child soldiers and bring peace and prosperity to Uganda. I had never heard of the war fought in Uganda before I heard about this organization... In our world, it is so easy for us to be ignorant about the horrible things happening in this world, slavery being one of them. There are more slaves now than ever before, yet so many of us are unaware of what's going on.
To Write Love On Her Arms
This organization is fighting to let our generation know for SURE that we are loved. That we matter. That there is a reason to hope and to love.

I've emailed a few people about the IJM chapter on campus and I'm looking forward to getting involved. But what else can I do? I find it really difficult to donate money since it's basically my parents'; I don't feel like it's mine to give away. I've never been a good "leader" and am too nervous to plan anything on my own. WHAT TO DO.

I guess it's praying time.

And then stepping-out-in-faith time.

AHH.

1.52

I decided to start a 52 weeks photography/journalish project! WHAT UP, YO.
basically I'm going to take a photo for every week this year and write about it. it's not the taking photos part that will be hard. it'll be the part where I actually go through photos diligently, taking the time to edit (or not edit) them as I choose, and then writing about it. I don't want to make any rules about what kind of photo it will be or what kind of writing it will be.... this project will go where it goes. *shrugs*

pushing, fighting, pulling, waiting, climbing, searching

I am restless, looking for You.

it's been a fight. it hasn't been easy... it is so easy to doubt. to fall. to stumble... but God has been so gracious and picked me up so many times. during the struggles, it is so easy to think that God has left you. but He promised that He never will! heart.
this is getting so cheesy. how do you make this not sound cheesy?? it's TRUE AHH

i have no idea what i'm doing with this blog. waha. ah. ahah.

i love wegmans.

you probably have no idea how much.

it is this amazing grocery store near me. the one where these photos were taken is one of my favorite places to be. now you might think "what a loser, she loves a grocery store... who hangs out at grocery stores?"

everyone in this town does. at least, i don't think i've met someone from around here yet who doesn't love wegmans.

anyways... it's photo-spamming time!

along with visiting canadice lake, I went out to dinner with my family and took a walk around the city. the lake was absolutely gorgeous and I hope to go back soon to take some portraits - it is such a perfect location for photos. I might have to go back by myself with just my camera and the tripod sometime too; I am so self-conscious while taking self-portraits. it's awful.

but here are a few photos from the day!

the coolest music store i've been to in a while. not that i go to cool music stores on a regular basis... i love amazon.

went to Colie's and Forever 21 with carley, christine, and jess!
Forever 21 workers have told me not to take photos in their store before, but they didn't say anything about the iPhone... and it's not like i would be copying anything in their store anyways. haha.

the first two shots are taken with the iPhone and edited with the Instagram app. the last is an attempt at faking Instagram colors.

went to borders with my sister to take advantage of their sale.
they said i wasn't allowed to take photos but i had never had issues there before...

went to the cheesecake factory with some friends during this insane storm and hung out at one of their houses to "watch" the storm, even though it was mostly over. haha.

the lighting in the restaurant was absolutely awful. so dim... i couldn't take photos. this one's blurry.

even though the storm was mostly over, the sky was gorgeous
